INFRARED PHOTOGRAPHY

To experiment with Infrared imagery, Jane converted her 35 mm SLR to reveal only infrared light. She uses a variety of lenses and does her shooting on very bright days when she can capture most of the infrared light spectrum. This heightens the presence of foliage to a glowing bright white and reveals tonal variations not typically seen with straight photography. Infrared images offer a peculiar, dreamlike quality and enhance the tonal variations of light on landscapes, seascapes, and the flesh-tones of human skin. Anything with chlorophyll will glow bright white, water will appear translucent and cloudy skies appear dramatic and other-worldly.
